NAD+ is a coenzyme that exists in every cell in your body. It is what your cells use to make energy and to repair their own DNA, and levels fall steadily as we get older. Delivering it as an intramuscular injection bypasses digestion, so it absorbs steadily from the muscle into circulation where your cells can use it.
Egg quality is one of the places this matters most. Eggs are among the most energy-demanding cells in the body, and the mitochondria inside them depend on NAD+ to do their work. As NAD+ declines with age, so does the cellular energy those eggs have available to them. Research in this area is still early, but the interest in NAD+ for reproductive aging comes from exactly this link between cellular energy and the quality of the eggs it supports.
