Our Infant feeding team can come see you in the comfort of your own home! At the initial appointment, the Lactation Consultant (and Occupational Therapist) will cover all of the important aspects to help you get started with feeding your baby (breastfeeding or bottle feeding), including understanding your baby's hunger cues, comfortable positioning, getting the best latch possible, how to tell when your baby is getting milk and when your baby is full. In this appointment, we will also cover infant care and sleep patterns to help you get as much rest as possible during this transition to parenthood. We will discuss any issues or questions that arise to help you get off to a great start!
Our OT/IBCLC can help with: comfortable positioning and latching, sore nipples and/or breast pain, slow weight gain, blocked ducts/Mastitis, low/decreased milk supply, oversupply, difficulty handling fast flow, difficulties with bottle feeding, understanding your baby's fussiness & crying, reflux and colic symptoms, falling asleep at the breast or bottle, and interpreting your baby's behaviour.
Initial Appointments are usually 60-90 minutes depending on the individual needs of the Mother/Baby. 1 week of reasonable text/email support is included as needed.
This service is offered by our Occupational Therapist / IBCLC and may be eligible to be covered under extended health benefits.
