Alison Wiggers grew up in Whitby, Ontario and moved to London for her undergraduate degree in Medical Science at Western University. She grew up playing competitive soccer, and was drawn to the field of physiotherapy during her undergraduate career after suffering sports injuries that required rehabilitation. While healthcare had always been her career goal, physiotherapy allowed her to combine her interests in science, anatomy, athletics and exercise with her passion for helping individuals meet their functional goals.
Alison graduated from Western University with an Honours Bachelor of Medical Science in 2013, and went on to receive her Masters in Physical Therapy from McMaster University in 2015. Since 2015, she has been working in outpatient community orthopedic physiotherapy.
Alison has done additional post-graduate training in Anatomical Acupuncture, Vestibular and Concussion Rehabilitation, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy (Level 3), External Pelvic Floor Management, Oncology Rehabilitation and Lymphedema Management. She is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
Her treatment approach focuses on patient-centered, individualized care by combining manual therapy, acupuncture, exercise prescription and sport-specific training. She is passionate about helping people to return to the activities they love and increase their overall function. She believes in assessing the individual rather than just the injury and treating the root cause rather than just the symptoms.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys staying active by lifting weights, playing flag football, and participating in kickboxing and karate. She received her black belt in karate in 2021 and qualified for Team Canada in point sparring in 2023.

Our initial concussion evaluation generally lasts around 75 minutes and focuses on identifying and prioritizing symptoms related to the concussion. The physical examination typically includes assessments of the head, eyes, neck, balance, cognitive and vestibular system. Based on the findings, treatment plans are customized and may involve a combination of education, graded exercise, manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, and oculomotor retraining. In some cases, a thorough initial assessment may temporarily intensify concussion or vestibular symptoms. To ensure your safety, we recommend having someone accompany you for transportation after the session.
This treatment is for individuals undergoing cancer treatment or dealing with chronic concerns from previous cancer treatment. Physiotherapy can assist individuals recovering from cancer-related surgery (lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node resection, lobectomy, etc) with specific stretching and strengthening exercises to correct muscle imbalances, scar management, and myofascial release techniques. These techniques can also be utilized following radiation treatment to improve radiation fibrosis. She can also guide patients on how to safely return to exercise during and after treatment, which has been proven to reduce cancer-related fatigue, improve immune function and reduce risk of cancer recurrence.
