Amanda Ellis (she/her) is an Educational Psychologist with nearly a decade of experience providing psychological services in schools and has now transitioned to full time private practice. She has a passion for working with kids/youth and their families to ensure that every child not only understands their unique brain but knows that who they are is worth celebrating. She specializez in the identification of learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and other challenges that may be impacting a child's ability to perform to their potential in school and life.
Through comprehensive psychoeducational assessment, she assesses cognitive abilities, academic strengths and weaknesses, social/emotional functioning, and attention/executive functioning to understand an individual's unique thinking and learning patterns. Results of the assessment are used to make practical recommendations for how best to support your child.

During this time, I will complete a range of literacy assessments with your child. You may choose to stay in the room or wait outside. These assessments include letter names / sounds, rhyming, oral reading, spelling, and additional aspects of reading depending on your child’s age and abilities. Following these assessments, we will sit down together and go through your intake form, discussing your child’s learning history. We will use the data collected from the assessments to determine our goals moving forward. We will also discuss a suggested length and amount of sessions to meet these goals.
**CURRENT CLIENTS ONLY** to schedule a subsequent therapy session. During this time, I will work with your child to complete activities addressing the Five Pillars of Reading - Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Using the initial assessment results, I will determine strategies to target these areas while also integrating self-regulation activities such as body breaks and other movement-based tasks. Your child will have individualized instruction to keep them engaged in fun and challenging games and activities. As we work through our time together, I will regularly reassess your child’s progress and communicate next steps for the learning.
