Arlene’s treatment approach is rooted in the belief in the body's ability to self-correct, to return to a state of balance, of homeostasis, in particular by utilizing Eastern Medicine modalities. She is a dual registrant, both as a Registered Massage Therapist, and as a Registered Acupuncturist. Arlene is a passionate educator - teaching for both the Acupuncture and Massage Therapy programs at the International Academy of Applied Health (now TriOs College), creating curriculum for a group of private colleges in acupuncture/TCM, and creating workshops. She was the Program Director for the International Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine until mid-2023.
Since becoming registered with the CMTO in 2005, Arlene has continued her studies, including: Tibetan Acupressure System; Craniosacral therapy level 1 (Upledger); Thai Yoga Massage and Reflexology (ITM, Thailand); and Balance Method acupuncture (Dr Richard Tan). In addition, Arlene offers Cupping, Gua sha, Acupuncture (since 2014 as an RMT, and then as an R.Ac.), and Acupressure as options to include in treatments. She is dedicated to continuing life-long learning and is completing her thesis for her Master of Arts - Health Professions Education, at the University of Ottawa (class of 2025).
When not at work, time is spent enjoying walks, skiing, writing, learning, genealogy and travelling with her family.
Please note that massage therapy sessions with Arlene do NOT include deep pressure, and may include modalities such as gua sha and acupressure.
