I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Kinesiology/Biology) at the University of Victoria in 2002, and then completed my Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2006 (graduating Cum Laude).
A desire to live overseas quickly landed me in Perth, Australia where I worked as a chiropractor for nine years. I was fortunate to gain a significant amount of experience treating patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal health conditions such as back and neck pain, headaches, and sports injuries. With a passion for teaching, I also spent 6 years as a clinical supervisor at Murdoch University teaching diagnostic and manual therapy skills to chiropractic students.
In 2016, I completed a Master of Science in Pain Management from the University of Sydney, Australia as well as the diplomate program in the Canadian Academy of Pain Management. With these qualifications, I am able to more thoroughly evaluate and manage patients with both acute and chronic pain.
My approach to chiropractic care emphasizes thorough evaluation and care that is evidence-informed and patient-centered. Some people prefer getting their spine 'cracked', while others want help with a more gentle approach. I provide either or both, and discuss with you what would be best and in line with your preferences. I have completed the ART® and Graston® courses, and use pain science education and rehabilitation to help you feel better as soon as possible.
Outside of the clinic, I keep busy with family life, coaching youth hockey and baseball, and participating in trail running, golf, and racquet sports. Should you have any questions regarding how chiropractic can be helpful for you, please feel free to contact me at the clinic.

Aerobic Endurance: Fire fighter Specfic Peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) will be measured during a progressive, incremental exercise test to exhaustion on a treadmill. After a standardized 5-minute warm-up, you will walk at a speed of 3.5 mph and 10% grade for 8 minutes. This is called the constant work rate phase. Once the constant work rate phase is completed you will immediately progress to the incremental phase. During this phase the treadmill speed remains at 3.5 mph but the grade increases 1% every minute to a maximum of 15%. Subsequently, the speed will increase by 0.5 mph each minute while the grade remains at 15% until you can no longer continue. The duration of this test depends on your fitness level and motivation, but usually lasts about 16 minutes. Generally, the longer the duration of the test, the better the VO2peak score. Aerobic endurance will be evaluated from two test outcomes: total time on the treadmill; and, your VO2peak score. When the incremental phase is completed, there is a mandatory 5-min cool-down (slow walk on a flat treadmill). In order to pass the treadmill test, you MUST complete the 5-min warm-up, the 8-min constant work rate phase and the 5-minute cool-down (for a total of at least 18 minutes). During the test, expired gases are monitored with an automated metabolic measurement system to calculate the rate of oxygen consumption. Heart rate is monitored continuously with a telemetry system.

VO2 max, or maximal oxygen consumption, refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense exercise. This measurement is a great indicator of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. The more oxygen a person can use during high level exercise, the more energy a person can produce. The test involves either exercising on a treadmill or a bike at an intensity that increases every few minutes until exhaustion, and is designed to achieve a maximal effort.
