Following graduation in 2010, she completed her first post-graduate pelvic health course in 2011 and has been treating pelvic floor patients ever since. She is happy to work with a variety of patients – women, men, transgendered and non-binary people, of all ages. She is experienced in treating urinary/bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation (including children), genital pain, chronic pelvic pain, bed-wetting, abdominal hernias, abdominal separation (diastasis recti), abdominal scar pain, birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and tailbone injuries. Katie opened her own practise in 2017, and is now happy to be expanding to her co-owned multidisciplinary clinic at Reconnect Health Centre.
You might see Katie out in the community promoting pelvic health at a variety of events. Katie is often a guest lecturer for the School of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University, with a focused knowledge on pregnancy, pelvic health and exercise with regards to weight loss. She is an active contributing author to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Women’s Health Division Newsletter. Katie has formed a relationship with Mount Allison University’s Sexual Health Laboratory to research chronic pelvic and genital pain conditions.
When she is not busy with her work, she can be found with her two little boys and husband enjoying nature, gardening, baking, reading…and probably folding lots of laundry!
Katie received both her BSc and MSc in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University, is a member of the New Brunswick College of Physiotherapists, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Women’s Health Division, the Canadian Sex Researcher Forum and the Canadian Obesity Network. Her latest goal is to help expand the knowledge of her peers.

This appointment is for new patients or patients that have not attended an appointment in > 12 months. This appointment is booked for up to 60 minutes. Pelvic floor physiotherapists can work on the pelvis and core externally, much like typical physiotherapy, but they might also recommend internal assessment and treatment. Sometimes when the problem is on the inside, it is best to treat it from the inside. In Canada, a physiotherapist must have advanced training to be able to perform an internal pelvic exam. An internal pelvic exam can take place vaginally or rectally. While an internal exam can offer a great deal of information regarding your condition, not everyone is appropriate for an internal exam and patients can always refuse an internal exam. Even without an internal exam, there are a variety of physiotherapy treatment options available for pelvic floor conditions. All treatment options are agreed upon by the physiotherapist and the patient before implementation.
