Hello!
My name is Kourtney and I was born and raised right here in Grande Prairie, in 2017 I ventured off to the University of Lethbridge to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. From there I enrolled with Yorkville University to obtain my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology, graduating with honours in 2024 and becoming a registered member of the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association.
Over the years, I have worked with a range of agencies, from not-for-profits to specialized treatment service teams, supporting both youth and adults. I have many years of experience specializing in child and youth mental health, providing support across various settings including clinics, homes, and schools.
My work has also involved supporting families and parents navigating complex mental health challenges and attachment ruptures within their family systems. Additionally, I have supported women and children affected by domestic abuse and varying traumatic events. I have also facilitated many parenting workshops as well as youth mental health workshops.
In addition to my formal education and work experience, I have taken many different courses and trainings in various psychological and counselling modalities. As a therapist at Paramount Psychology & Counselling, I am excited to work with children (ages 5 and older), youth, families, and adults, applying the skills and theories I have developed over the years.
In my practice, I draw from a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and other evidence-based frameworks to support clients in achieving their goals.
My objective is always to explore and address the root causes of a client’s distress, approaching each individual from a holistic wellness perspective that considers the full picture—not just one component. I’m excited to welcome you into my space and work together on your journey!
Please Note: I will be going on maternity leave beginning August 29th, 2026. Booking an ART session with Kalua requires that you are an existing client and have already completed an initial assessment and consultation with her regarding ART treatment options. This appointment is for clients beginning Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with Kalua Rhody. To book this session, you must be an existing client of the clinic and have either previously worked with Kalua or been referred directly to her by another therapist within our practice. Your first ART appointment is two hours in length and includes a 30-minute intake and informed consent process, followed by a 90-minute ART session. Completion of this initial intake process is required before continuing with future ART appointments. If you would like to begin ART with Kalua, please contact the front desk at 780-532-4944 or add yourself to her waitlist through your Jane client portal, and reception will reach out to confirm availability and assist with booking your initial session.
