Loves to work with: Stress incontinence, Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain and low back pain, Prenatal education and pelvic floor prep
Melina graduated from the University of British Columbia for both her Bachelor of Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy degrees, and has worked in a variety of settings ever since. She relocated to the Comox Valley a few years ago after working in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast.
Melina started training to include women’s health and pelvic floor-specific work in her practice after hearing many of her patients’ concerns around lumbopelvic pain, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and painful intercourse. She has completed extensive training in these specific areas in order to educate and empower her patients, and to help them return to the activities they love the most.
Melina's background is diverse and includes general orthopedics, sport injuries and geriatrics, and much of her previous experience involved clinical pilates as a treatment modality. She finds this to be a great tool to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and returning to regular exercise, particularly for pregnant and postpartum patients.
On top of pelvic floor and women’s health work, Melina enjoys working with the general population for any aches and pains that may come up. Melina uses a variety of techniques to help relieve pain and improve function, including therapeutic exercise, dry needling, and manual therapy. She is passionate about helping her patients understand how pain works, and the various ways in which they can advocate for themselves as part of their treatment.
In her spare time, you can find Melina mountain biking or running in the Cumberland trails, skiing at Mount Washington, or planning her next travel adventure!

A 6-Week Educational Pilates Series Each week we'll explore a different part of your body's natural support system, learning how the diaphragm, pelvic floor, deep abdominal muscles, spine, hips, and glutes coordinate to create stability from the inside out. Through guided Pilates exercises, hands-on awareness, and simple, practical education, you'll develop a deeper connection to your body while building strength, confidence, and ease in movement. Unlike a traditional Pilates class, this series places equal emphasis on understanding why the exercises matter. Rather than simply following movements, you'll learn how to recognize what your own body is doing. How your breath influences your core, how your posture changes the way you move, and how your body naturally creates support. As your understanding grows, so does your ability to move with greater confidence, make informed choices, and respond to your body's changing needs both in class and in everyday life. Program at a Glance * 6 weekly education & Mat Pilates classes (60 minutes each) * Suitable for all levels - beginners and those with experience * 3 progressive home practice videos included * Focus on understanding, awareness, and functional strength Details: Sept 23rd - Oct 28th, Wednesday evenings at 6:15pm, Investment $180
