I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a certified Focusing Oriented Therapist. I work with adult individuals and couples on a wide range of issues, including depression and anxiety, grief, life transitions and relationship issues. I also tend to see many clients who have ADHD, including mixed neurotype couples.
My approach to counselling is experiential and relational. This means that I support people to create positive change by providing opportunities for new experiences in therapy. When we begin to experience our thoughts, feelings, memories, behaviours or relationships in a new way this can transform the way we experience ourselves, other people and the world.
I have a Master's degree from City University of Seattle, and I'm a member of the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA). I have trained in Focusing Oriented Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am also registered with CVAP and FNHA as a mental health treatment provider.

My counselling with children focuses on the therapeutic relationship, using play-based approaches to help children explore their emotions, understand them better and ultimately learn to self-regulate and manage strong emotions. Family life is complicated and complex and can sometimes feel as if you are on a roller coaster with no end in sight. Parenting is one of the toughest jobs that any of us take on and it is often not acknowledged as such. There is pressure to be a “perfect parent,” which can lead to feelings of guilt and inadequacy for parents and caregivers when things are not going well. There are multiple demands placed on parents and children and the work of parenting is often valued less than it should be. The stresses of work-life and careers, societal pressure, extended family pressure, the high cost of living can all combine and create stressful situations and children respond to the stress in their family. My work with parents and caregivers, centres around providing a safe place to explore feelings of guilt, anger, hurt and to understand potentially negative patterns that may be repeated from our own childhoods. Parents can expect to have their emotions validated and concerns heard as they explore ways to find new and more positive ways to connect with their child and other family members and an approach that supports understanding ourselves and our own reactions and triggers and provides ways to develop more mindful approaches to parenting and family life.

During this hour, we will discuss your background, current challenges, and therapy goals to ensure that EMDR is a suitable approach for you.

Your EMDR session will involve guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or taps) to help reprocess distressing memories in a safe and supportive environment. We will work at your pace, incorporating grounding techniques as needed to ensure your comfort throughout the process. EMDR is designed to reduce emotional intensity and promote healing, leading to lasting relief from past experiences. EMDR is evidence-based and is helpful for mental wellness and addictive behaviours. Please note: This session is 60 minutes long but may extend up to 90 minutes. Please let your therapist know if you need to leave at the 60-minute mark.
