Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprising the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety. Our advanced CranioSacral therapists combine Somatic techniques and additional training for an optimal outcome.

Fire cupping therapy involves the placement of heated glass cups on the skin which creates a vacuum. The therapist creates this vacuum by removing the oxygen from the cup via a flame and the cup is immediately applied to the area that requires treatment. When cupping is applied to specific acupoints on the body, it can improve circulation and bring warmth to affected areas, reducing pain and improving overall well-being.

The Graston Technique is a manual therapy using stainless steel tools to treat soft tissue problems like muscle and connective tissue disorders. It's a form of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) that helps diagnose and address adhesions, scar tissue, and fascial restrictions. Graston induces inflammation to boost blood flow in affected soft tissues. Using a cross-friction massage, which involves brushing or rubbing against the grain of the scar tissue, the practitioner re-introduces small amounts of trauma to the affected area to promote healing.

Oncology massage is a specialized type of massage that has been adapted to safely treat people living with cancer in all stages of their experience. Its gentle, light touch is rooted in compassion and strives to support the client’s physical and mental health. The therapist and client work together, reviewing medical history to develop personal care goals for the massage. When reviewing their history, several things are considered, such as where they are in the treatment cycle, types of medication and treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation treatments. The condition of their skin, bones, organs and any other areas where we need to take extra care. We also discuss medical devices like ports in place, and any surgical sites and scarring that may need attention or extra caution. Research and review of scientific data indicate that oncology massages can help improve quality of life by increasing relaxation, improving sleep, and may help to support immune function. It can help to relieve anxiety, pain, and nausea, improve joint and body range of motion and provide some relief from peripheral neuropathy and edema. For those who have had surgical interventions, it can help improve the range of motion by softening scar tissue, reducing strain and pulling on surrounding tissues. Oncology massage sessions often provide a space to find some reprieve, where in the middle of everything going on, a client can find a quiet place of respite. Massage therapists who provide oncology massage have taken additional training to learn and understand how cancer and its treatments affect the body, developing treatments that provide the best care for their clients where they are at that moment.

Prenatal massage is a type that's similar to regular massage – it aims to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good during your pregnancy. Prenatal massage is also customized to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly. Carrying a baby inside you changes your center of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, meaning your pelvic joints are less stable, and it also changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward. Add to that the extra weight you're carrying and you may end up with an aching lower back.

TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) and TMJD (temporal mandibular joint dysfunction) is essentially talking about the same thing with the difference being TMJ is the actual joint name and TMJD naming the dysfunction. TMJ treatment is treatment of the muscles surrounding the TMJ that are pulling or tightening so that the TMJ can not function properly. TMJD treatment is treatment to specifically address the dysfunctions that the joint may have. Such as popping, clicking, getting stuck on open and closing, can’t open or close fully. Some TMJD can not be treated manually, it is important that you are diagnosed by a doctor, oral surgeon, or dentist. They can xray the TMJ and see if there are any structural or anatomical issues that is causing your pain and discomfort. Not all jaw pain is a TMJD issue. It can be tight muscles from things like clenching, grinding, chewing on fingernails, stress, eating too hard of food or sticky food. These are factors that can be discussed with your therapist. What to expect in a treatment? The first appointment will be 1hr which will include assessment and treatment. Assessments are movements of the jaw, palpating the neck muscles, seeing how you bite. Treatment will be external work on the neck, clavicle, jaw, face and head, then intraoral by pinpointing specific muscles like the masseter, lateral pterygoid, medial pterygoid. Treatment can be a bit painful at first. We do our best to work within your pain threshold and never past your level of tolerance. You may experience a bit of swelling and soreness the day or two after which is normal but you should see results right away. Treatments are 3 to 5 sessions and re-evaluation depending on the severity of the case. Who can get tmj treatment? Anyone with jaw pain! Who should not get tmj treatment? If you have braces, have any dental issues like toothache, or currently getting dental treatment (ie only have the mock up done for a crown or implant). If you have oral or maxillofacial injuries that are in active treatment, whether trauma to the face, or cancer.
