MVA Physiotherapy First Visit (Out of Protocol) – This appointment is booked for patients presenting more than 90 days after the date of their motor vehicle accident. It is provided outside standard MVA treatment protocols and includes an initial assessment, with treatment initiated based on the patient’s condition and the physiotherapist’s clinical judgment.

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Physiotherapy Motor vehicle accidents—such as car collisions or crashes—can result in a range of injuries, from mild discomfort to more complex conditions. Our physiotherapists are here to support your recovery with expert care and guidance. The MVA Initial Assessment and Treatment session lasts 60 minutes and includes a thorough evaluation of your injuries to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your needs. Treatment may vary depending on the severity and type of injury and can include manual therapy, guided exercises, and pain management strategies. We also assist you in understanding your insurance coverage and benefits to ensure you receive the care you’re entitled to. To qualify under the Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols Regulation of Alberta, your initial assessment must be completed within 10 days of the accident. Following your assessment, you may be eligible for up to 21 pre-approved treatment sessions within 90 days, which can be used for physiotherapy, chiropractic care, or massage therapy.

WCB typically covers most work-related injuries for up to 8 weeks, depending on the nature of the injury, with treatment commonly provided up to three times per week.
