Sophia is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Physiotherapist with a strong passion for supporting older adults in maintaining and enhancing their independence and quality of life. She combines evidence-based practice with hands-on skills to help her clients achieve meaningful, long-term goals, always with respect for their personal preferences, dignity, and individuality.
Sophia holds a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from Universidad Mayor in Chile (2014). She began her career in a hospital setting, where she gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. This early experience provided her with a strong clinical reasoning and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
Recently, Sophia has focused her career on neurological rehabilitation and proudly joined the experienced team at Activate. She is currently enrolled in the upcoming Bobath Course to continue expanding her clinical expertise in neurorehabilitation.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Sophia values the deep therapeutic relationships she forms with her clients and their families. She brings warmth, empathy, and a strong sense of purpose to every interaction.
Since moving to Canada in 2018, Sophia has continued to grow professionally. Before obtaining her Canadian physiotherapy license, she worked as a Registered Care Aide, providing safe and compassionate care to individuals experiencing neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, dementia, and post-stroke. This role deepened her communication skills and further shaped her empathetic, person-centered approach to care.
Outside of work, Sophia enjoys hiking, running, camping, and traveling. She’s a beachgoer, a lover of animals, and is always exploring the latest in rehabilitation research and techniques.
