Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM) & MLD

A manual technique using oil and a wooden tool to massage area of the body where large lymph vessels and nodes are located. Light to moderate pressure strokes and pumping techniques move fluid within these structures along their pathways. Areas treated are legs, glutes and abdomen. A deeper lymphatic massage may treat feelings of heaviness, bloating, and water retention or promote relaxation, however, it is not suitable for treating post surgical swelling, lymphedema or any condition with damage to the lymphatic system (see lymphatic massage for treating these).

Most of the hour is spent on the table in hands-on work — pressure, gliding strokes and focused work through specific muscles and connective tissue — with a brief check-in on what changed since last time and a sense of what to keep an eye on between visits.
