Massothérapie

Myofascial Release

During this type of session, you will wear sports clothes such as short shorts, t-shirt, tank top or sports bra. Expect to receive manual therapy techniques like others that you might know from massage therapy. Sometimes, for a better grip to effectively manipulate skin, fascia, tendons, ligaments and muscles, moistening the skin with a little bit of water is necessary. Other times, some gliding is essential to execute some techniques and access different myofascial layers (myo = relating to muscles), therefore the use of a cream may be required. Myofascial Release is excellent for musculoskeletal injury recovery, chronic pain relief and management, sports preparation and recovery, scar tissue breakdown, post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation, or from other surgery types, and always according to the recommendations of your medical team. The goal of each visit will be discussed for Majo to best adapt her approach to meet your needs of the day. For your understanding, “Fascia” is a three-dimensional system of fibrous tissue that encompasses and connects muscles, bones, joints, nerves, organs, in addition to blood and lymphatic vessels. Physically, it resembles a large, flexible, malleable fibrous web, bathed in a gelatinous-like substance, which fills the void between all other bodily structures. When healthy, this dynamic and communicative tissue moves with suppleness and fluidity, and reacts to tensions, pressures and compressions, thus continually adapting its shape and density to allow the movements of the human body. In response to multiple injuries often linked to accidents, repetitive movements, poor posture, aging, illness, stress and anxiety, several connective soft tissue responses can arise and make our lives difficult, such as rigid and painful scarring, myofascial adhesions, muscle knots and stiffness, and inflamed tendons. These changes can limit the body's freedom of movement and thus hinder its biomechanical efficiency, limiting physical performance in everyday life and in sports, in addition to causing unwanted chronic pain.
