This is the initial step for parents to obtain counselling services for their child. This session will include both legal guardians of the child. During this session we will review consent and policies surrounding the counselling process. We will also discuss presenting concerns, obtain background information and clarify the counselling process.

Most of the hour is spent talking through what’s been happening, how you’ve been reacting, and what patterns keep showing up — your counsellor asks questions, reflects things back, and helps you put words to it — so you leave with a clearer sense of what came up and what to keep noticing between sessions.
