EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence based psychotherapy approach currently available for youth ages 16 and older and adults. It helps individuals process traumatic or distressing experiences, reduce emotional distress, and build healthier coping strategies. EMDR can be effective for concerns such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias, grief, and other experiences that continue to impact daily life.
This appointment is approximately 50 minutes in duration. During the initial session, your therapist will gather information about your history, current concerns, and goals to determine whether EMDR is an appropriate treatment approach. If appropriate, treatment planning will begin, and preparation for EMDR therapy will be discussed. EMDR processing typically begins only after adequate assessment and preparation have been completed.
