A first meeting with a death doula is a chance to sit together and talk openly about your wishes, needs, and expectations for end-of-life support. This is a conversation—not a commitment—and the purpose is to see if we would be a good fit to work together. Sometimes the fit isn’t ideal, and that’s okay. What matters most is that you and your loved ones feel comfortable, supported, and cared for in this tender time.
In our discussion, we’ll explore what kind of care and presence you’re hoping for, and how I may be able to support you and your family. My work as a death doula is not medical care, but rather specialized, compassionate support. This may include gentle massage therapy for frail tissue, pain, or mobility limitations; respite sitting to provide rest and relief for caregivers; or vigil services, being present with you and your family in the final hours. I also offer trauma-sensitive yogic breathwork and a calming, nurturing presence to ease the transition.
This meeting is an opportunity to ask questions, share your wishes, and get a sense of what it might feel like to have me by your side. My role is to listen deeply, to hold space for you and your family, and to provide steady, compassionate care as you move through this sacred stage of life.
