Whole Life Coaching

Professional Whole Life Coaches are trained to listen and observe, to customize their approach to the individual client’s needs and to elicit solutions and strategies for the client. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources and creativity that the client already has. While the coach provides the objective perspective, the client is responsible for taking the steps to produce the results he or she desires. In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of the conversation while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are today and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be tomorrow. Whole Life Coaching differs from other professions such as therapy, consulting or mentoring: The coach does not have the answers. The coach does not provide expertise. A coach operates from the presupposition that the clients have all the resources they need, including the ability to discover and utilize resources.

Most of the hour is spent talking through what’s been happening, how you’ve been reacting, and what patterns keep showing up — your counsellor asks questions, reflects things back, and helps you put words to it — so you leave with a clearer sense of what came up and what to keep noticing between sessions.
