Clinical Social Work (Virtual)

A Registered Social Worker (RSW) who has a Master of Social Work (MSW) with clinical specialization may provide therapy or practice clinical social work provided they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and expertise to do so. These services are considered equivalent to those offered by a psychologist. Though not required by the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), a MSW therapist may obtain permission to use the protected titles of Clinical Social Worker or Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) following completion of 1600hrs of supervised clinical practice and passing the ASWB Clinical Exam, at which time they will be added to the ACSW Clinical Registry.
